Been perusing DnB after a couple years of Dubstep. Excellent fodder for dishwashing, cleaning, nailing boards onto other boards. Whatever.
Anyways, I was thinking about a redo of song #2 in the playlist shown below "1 N 2" by Jonny L (who in my opinion is basically the Grandmaster Flash of Drum and Bass). Partially because there is a synth that seems out of key...also because it's a simple classic, I can imagine that hundreds of people at "Amnesia" in Ibiza are at this moment getting doused in floaty foam and bouncing around to this track. And it's always the same notes over and over...why fight it?
My proposition. Nancy (and Margo I was hoping but she refused) sings the 4 notes of the "strings type synth" using ooohhs and ahhhs. Accent at first, then drop to lower volume and crescendo for each note. Also sing some harmony notes for the background. Then we multiply her by...say...32, so there's 32 Nancys singing and add some reverb and delay so we have that "magic haze music aura thing" and have a slow rolling oscillation. We do the snappy baseline with the piano...staccato. Then that high pitched out of tune we turn into chords on the piano or we could do them as plucked violin/cello notes.
As for the vocals...well...it'd be fun to improvise. There's lots of things that rhyme with "2" and "too" (a classic combination)....as well as "you" and "do"
Problem with monotonous tasks and music is the brain gets going too fast. Enjoy...or don't!
